Door open, neighbour coming in

With this motto, Cayetana and Cecilia opened Botons, a multidisciplinary space in Sa Gerreria, where you can get a haircut, buy beautiful home products, visit an exhibition, eat brunch or have a coffee.

Define Buttons is not easy. It is so many things that it is impossible to explain in a single sentence: it is a hairdressing salon, a beauty salon, a decoration shop and a café. It is also a key dynamiser in Palma's Sa Gerreria neighbourhood, as its intense agenda of activities includes art exhibitions, brunches and even clothes exchanges. And all of this, framed in a friendly space that invites those who enter to stay, because everything is very reminiscent of home.

Door open, neighbour coming in.

Cecilia Meireles opened the first Botons in 2011 in the district of La Calatrava, one of the most beautiful old quarters in the world, under the motto "Open door, neighbour coming in". His dream was to open a neighbourhood hairdressing salon, but that was just the beginning... And that's why the premises and the concept soon became too small. It was then that, together with Cayetana, he decided to start a new phase, while remaining faithful to his original idea: the new Botons could not lose its special connection with the neighbourhood. And what better setting than the Plaça Flassaders, as the square could sometimes be an extension of the premises for the enjoyment of the locals.

Botons is like being at home. In the same open-plan space, there is a kitchen, a living room and a children's area. Everything breathes comfort. That was precisely the premise for the renovation: to create a homely environment that welcomes everyone who enters.

In addition to hairdressing and beauty services, Botons has an exquisite selection of products for sale for the home: ceramics, textiles, decorative objects, etc. And the walls are adorned with beautiful works of art that can also be purchased, as Botons organises temporary exhibitions in collaboration with local and foreign artists.

Cecilia and Cayetana are always on the lookout for special products, both beauty products for the hairdresser's and beauty salon as well as a selection of products for the home. They are committed to handmade, ecological and ethical products and, to do so, they contact different local artists and craftsmen who make small productions with great care, attention to detail and respect for the environment. As they themselves state, if happiness is homemade, this philosophy must also be transmitted through the products they offer.

Botons starts from the traditional but adapts to today's consumer, allowing you to buy a few gifts, take advantage of a massage or haircut, discover a local artist or meet someone for brunch. With this offer, it's definitely a place to come in and stay a while.

Moreover, this varied offer is attractive to a wide range of audiences: young and old, children, families... and this makes Botons an important centre of connection and dynamism in the neighbourhood, favouring synergies such as customers becoming fans of the artists exhibited, or even, very interestingly, a professional from the art world called Maria ending up working in a real estate agency specialising in beautiful homes (which you also enter and don't want to leave) called Monapart Palma.
