Savoy Vase - Alvar Aalto
The Savoy vase was created by the Finnish Alvar Aalto for the Paris exhibition in 1937. It formed part of the decoration of the Savoy restaurant, which was run by Aalto himself and his wife Aino. This icon is part of the permanent collection of the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art in New York) and still today each piece of glass is hand blown in a steel mould and then polished by hand. [Manufactured by Iittala. Available for 69€]
