NOMAD COFFEE: PASSION FOR GOOD COFFEE
If you are not awake enough to learn more about Jordi and Nomad Coffee, don't wait any longer, prepare yourself a good coffee and let's get started!

Jordi Mestre is responsible (along with his great team at Nomad Coffee) for ensuring that we all manage to function in the mornings thanks to their delicious roasted coffees. But not only that, but year after year they have been innovating and growing, until they created Frutas Selectas, to which, in addition to speciality coffee, they added bread, cuisine, local fruit and vegetables.
Tell us about yourself and your work. Where did your vocation start? Any first memories?
I wanted to work in furniture and I studied furniture design and furniture restoration and conservation, (the latter in London) where I discovered the speciality café scene that had taken off in the city. There I frequented some cafés and when I finished university and after some internships in different restoration workshops I decided to look for a job in the cafés that gave me a good vibe.
My first powerful memory with specialty coffee is of a rainy day. I escaped to try a coffee before going to work and the barista made me a coffee that made me rethink everything. That coffee was unlike anything I had ever had before.
What do you find most satisfying about your work, and any that you are particularly proud of?
The team that makes up NOMAD, how professional and passionate they are about what they do. How good they are at their job and what good colleagues they are.

What is your creative process like, what are your sources of inspiration, any particular music while working?
I am fortunate to be surrounded by a very creative environment of designers and people with very interesting gastronomic projects, so I tend to get a lot of help in these matters, especially from my partner and Basora, who is in charge of the creative direction of NOMAD.
Favourite colour, book, film and record - in that order! ;D
White.
From the last thing I read I loved it Collado: The curse of a food houses.
Mondays in the Sun.
It's hard to choose, but at home we hear a lot of Nuria Graham.
Is your home a reflection of who you are? Tell us what it smells like, your favourite corner, your favourite decorative object or piece of furniture, if you treasure a collection... And if you have a pet, introduce it to us!
My house is my world, yes! I love coming home and for years I have been sharing it with my partner and mother of Simó, our son together for just over two months. So lately it smells like a precious baby and the vegetable and chicken broths that Júlia and I prepare.

My favourite corner is the terrace, full of old pots and plants of all kinds. We have a lot of antique furniture, such as a giant old clothes cupboard that we now use for all our kitchen stuff.
Two or three years ago my father hooked me up with his coffee liqueur collection and we have a lot of them, they are beautiful bottles and I love the variety of styles, sizes etc.
If you could buy anything right now and take it home, what would it be? Anything!
Mmmhh... I think the Ottoman from the Eames chaise longue, I have the chair, I bought it on wallapop, now I just need the footrest!
A great plan at home always includes...
Rich and varied natural wines.
Do you have a signature dish?
I don't have one. I love cooking in general, although some things come out a little bit too well. I usually cook rice dishes, I like the challenge with rice, so I don't usually repeat myself, although I do get a lot of ideas from my father-in-law who makes the best rice dishes I've ever tasted.

Where is your favourite place in your city and abroad?
My favourite place in Barcelona is our beautiful house, it is my paradise and with my partner Júlia and my son Simó I can't imagine a better place.
The world is too big and I have enjoyed magical places and moments on every continent.
