Cesca Chair - Marcel Breuer (1928)
Marcel Breuer left the Bauhaus in 1928, totally obsessed with creating "metal furnitureThe new "chrome-plated steel tubes will form an integral part of the new housing modernobjective and functional.

That year he created the Cesca chairHe dedicated it to another of his great creations, his daughter FranCesca.

We will have sat in this chair many times (at the doctor's surgery, in our bank branch, in a travel agency...), and many of us will have done so completely unaware that we were sitting on one of the key pieces of the 20th century furniture. And it is key precisely because it does not proclaim it loudly.

The Cesca chair is functional, elegant and comfortable.. Its backrest and seat are made of interwoven Vienna straw (very strong), making it look a little more rustic but no less sophisticated. Breuer designed it without armrests, but for convenience most manufacturers offer it with them, such as KnollBreuer signed a contract with them and you can buy the original for around 800€. Although he never actually patented the design, which has always been in the public domain, which explains why there are many variations and very worthy replicas on the market for 200€. A fortunate oversight...
