Monapart, as a network of real estate agencies specialising in beautiful homes, has already sponsored two of the previous editions in Barcelona (48h Open House Barcelona 2010 y 48h Open House Barcelona 2011), and this year Monapart Madrid is making its debut as a sponsor of this year's edition, offering to the public an interesting route through four houses of great architectural interest and the third instalment of our Speakeasy. Risky conversations about housing (the first in Madrid!), which brings together key professionals from the housing sector in an innovative and encouraging format for debate.

#RutaMonapart: Homes for Open Minds

Since the 1960s and 1970s, cities have seen a proliferation of alternative forms of living appropriate to increasingly complex and sophisticated lifestyles. Lofts, studios, office dwellings and other hybrid formulations are examples of a non-conformist and non-conformist attitude. open minded which results in personalisation - the tuning- of pre-existing spaces, residential or not, obsolete or not, with or without previous heritage value. These "secret" actions, invisible from the outside, remind us that there are many ways of inhabiting and that that of creative people is a very special and unique one.

In this edition of Open House Madrid 2018 we offer to the public a #RutaMonapart through four hidden treasures of Madrid: four private homes which are examples of the best residential architecture and interior design. The visits will be led by decorators, interior designers and/or architects who will nurture and take the experience to another level.

  • Point 1 > The first stop is at the home of architect Paula Rosales (More & Co), with its own design of "ToolKitchen" modular furniture and/or kitchen that is healthy, because it is made from materials that do not emit toxins and allow easy cleaning; reusable, because its modularity is dismountable and transportable, so that it lasts "a lifetime" and you can take it with you if you move house; and customisable, because it allows you to add or modify elements on a base structure.

  • Point 2 > Melina and David, fromOficio Studioin the district of Las Letras, will open the doors of their unique late 19th century leather craft workshop flat. They transformed this old painter's flat respecting its essence, adding natural materials such as wood, wool, leather and esparto grass and in the end the space is bohemian and authentic, an open house where you can breathe the smell of leather and harmony.

  • Point 3 >Raul MartinsThe interior architect lives in an original building dating from 1830 with a beautiful view of the Villa de Paris park. It retains many original elements: floors, mouldings, doors... And he himself designed many pieces of furniture exclusively for this space, perfectly combining respect for the classic with contemporary details and deserving special attention the careful lighting of all the rooms.

  • Point 4> Finally, the interior designer Manuel Espejo will accompany us to discover and understand the rooms of his personal studio. A former haberdashery that after a complete refurbishment has been transformed into a vertical distribution space where Manuel and his team work and attend to their clients. With furniture also designed by him, he will explain every detail of the project and the decoration of his studio (including the impressive kitchen).

Speakeasy #3: risky housing talks come to Madrid

After two editions in Barcelona (Old new construction y Uses and consumptions of the dwelling), Monapart Madrid is proposing the celebration of the 3rd edition of "Speakeasy: Risky Conversations on Housing". within the framework of Architecture Week in October. Speakeasy is an initiative born from the idea of bringing together important players in the housing sector to discuss current issues through an innovative and encouraging format of debate that brings together, in an extraordinary space, an audience of a professional nature: 5 speakers with 10 minutes of intervention each, a moderator and a maximum of 40 seated attendees, all of them architects, designers, developers, builders, academics and representatives of the public sector.

The Speakeasy concept stems from the small underground clubs that opened during Prohibition in the United States. A small door, a password and bottles of rum that encouraged attendees to reinvent the world...

We will inform you about the details soon. There are only 40 places, so if you want to register, please do so by clicking here form.
