Photographic Committee
Catalina and Maria Daniela. A friendship and a passion for photography brought them together, and thus Comitè Fotogràfic was born, a studio specialising in storytelling through images.
Three years ago, a Colombian architect had an artistic revelation that transformed her professional life completely. At that time, a thousand kilometres away, a Venezuelan graphic designer was deciding to embark on a learning journey in the same visual discipline. Without knowing it back then, they already shared a similar path. But it was later when these two expat they met again in the same place, this time in Barcelona, the setting for their professional “marriage”. A friendship and a passion for photography brought them together, and thus was born Photographic Committee, a studio that specialises in visual storytelling.

Catalina is architect and a degree in art history. Although her working life had always been focused on university teaching, one fine day she realised that the resource of the photography It served to give a visual characteristic to many of the theoretical discourses floating around in his head. This revelation made him drop everything and focus his life for and by architectural and spatial photography.
Maria Daniela is graphic designer. Before landing in Barcelona, she spent a few years in Paris working in publishing houses and communication agencies. The inaccessibility of such a large, cosmopolitan city made her change course, and she ended up in the Catalan capital, a place where her need to get even closer to photography was awakened.
When we compare these two fans in the image, we discover that Catalina freezes specific times and spaces. Her photography captures the details that make places special. This constant is reflected in personal projects such as the series Exbuildings, a photographic X-ray of the party walls remaining when a building is under demolition.
Chatting about her projects, she also tells us, with a laugh, that when she travels, she always takes photos of the city's rubbish bins, because it's something she considers distinctive about the place. And thinking about it, the truth is that it's something truly genuine and unique, although, of course, when the rest of us mortals travel, we are overcome by an insatiable urge to capture the most iconic buildings in those places. And if they're crammed with tourists, so much the better... We're just like that.
Daniela, on the other hand, uses photography as a response to questions more closely related to identity and becoming. For the Venezuelan artist, images allow her to find herself and anchor her to a space, thus alleviating the need to belong to a place. And just like Catalina, this premise is reflected in her projects as Au Naturel, a series of unpretentious portraits of people who have just woken up.
Although they reflect around diverse ideas, they are united by a mutual feeling of expression through art. And that need is reinforced when working together. Separately they are fantastic and when they get together, they are the bomb. Like a jigsaw puzzle when it's solved, they are a perfect artistic tandem. Monapart didn't bring them together, but it's great that we can introduce them to you just as they are. No tricks or gimmicks. Looking like they've just woken up.
