Mediterráneas Home Staging
Silvia Prats and Sahimara Deus, two women with a lot of character, passion and desire to create spaces that make you fall in love at first sight, show us why home staging is so useful to optimize the sale / rental of your home.

Behind Mediterráneas Home Staging is a small company formed by two partners, Silvia Prats and Sahimara Deus, two women with a lot of character, passion and desire to create spaces that make you fall in love at first sight.
Silvia was born in Barcelona 41 years ago and is a nomad by nature. She easily falls in love with places that transmit emotions and smell of tradition. For part of her life she lived in Bilbao, the city she defines as "the cradle of authenticity". Undoubtedly in her heart she feels half Catalan and half Basque. It's not surprising that she lets out a "¡ahí va la ostia!" in the purest Bilbao style...
She settled in Calafell 5 years ago to make a radical change in her life and start from scratch with courage to find herself and start an adventure that would allow her to discover her true vocation. The real estate world stole her heart and it was there that she decided to take the plunge. Simple by nature, she loves to help everyone. She has a motto, if you can't get up in the morning with enthusiasm and go to work, stop and give it a whirl. Mediterráneas Home Staging is now her profession, her life and her passion.
Sahimara is Cuban, but has lived abroad for most of her life. Happily married with three children, she goes through life at full speed - and with three children, no wonder... With a degree in German philology, it's no wonder that punctuality runs through her veins. According to her, "it's an attribute that says a lot about people". She is sociable, communicative and a neat freak. She enjoys her family and is passionate about travelling with them. She loves music, cinema and as a good Cuban, dancing! If you can keep up with her, I'll buy you a coffee.
At weekends she reserves a space in her living room and becomes a Divinity programme devourer. Between the Scott brothers and the designer HillaryWe could say that he has a master's degree in decoration and an Oscar for fidelity...
Question: Why does the home staging And where did the idea of Mediterráneas HS come from?
Answer: And why not? We all love beautiful houses! Presenting a magazine home and if it is also available for sale, love at first sight... love at first sight.
Mediterráneas Home Staging was born out of a series of coincidences. We met when we were expanding our knowledge of furniture restoration. We immediately connected and discovered that we had common interests. The first project we started together was related to recycling furniture, giving it a second chance in a new setting.
After a trial period, we realised that it was not enough because the national consumer is not very used to buying restored furniture, but prefers to go to the big stores. This allowed us to rethink a new, more complete project. Silvia is fascinated by the world of real estate and Sahimara is passionate about decoration and the result before and after.
We decided, therefore, to train as home stagers professionals, creating the perfect tandem: home staging and real estate consultancy. This is how Mediterráneas Home Staging was born.

How does your service differ from other service providers? home staging?
The factor that allows us to differentiate ourselves from other companies of home staging is that we offer both private individuals and real estate professionals the possibility of helping and collaborating in the process of marketing the property. In other words, we want to be part of the whole process. We consider it vital and necessary to work hand in hand to ensure the success of all our clients. In addition, each project will have its own essence and particular magic, so we look for furniture and decorative objects carefully, adapting only and exclusively to the needs of each home and taking care of the details to create the feeling of home for the future buyer.
Another special feature is that we give furniture a second chance. If a piece is ready to stay, we will do everything possible to make your dreams come true. We are able to move it in time to adapt it to a new scenario.
"We are both united by the satisfaction of experiencing that our work can make people happy".
Could you share with us some of your techniques?
First of all, it is essential to apply the basic pillars of the home staging to prepare the house:
- Order.
- Clear and depersonalise.
- Repairing damage.
- Painting.
- Clean.
- Furnishing and decorating.
Creativity also plays an important role in the staging of a home. In addition to all this, we must work with enthusiasm and put a lot of heart into each project. Without forgetting the mantra "LESS IS MORE".

What inspires you most?
We don't know if it's an inspiration or a necessity, but seeing so many poorly presented and unprofessional properties on real estate portals has made us want to take matters into our own hands. Nowadays we find publications of all kinds, from ads without photographs, to the typical photo of the owner with his shirt off, reflected in the mirror! Not to mention the one with all the laundry ferociously deposited on the bed or on an armchair... You can't imagine how many times we feel tempted to call them to say: "Would you visit or buy this house?" That's why we're going to do our bit to turn the current real estate sector around. What we achieve with the home staging and real estate advice is to ensure that both the seller and the prospective buyer enjoy a wonderful experience.

Tell us about your biggest challenge as home stagersAny anecdotes perhaps?
Without a doubt, the first challenge was the flat that Silvia had for sale in L'Estartit. This 1 bedroom flat had been for sale for more than 2 years without any success. As it was already clear to us that we wanted to be home stagersWe decided to see first-hand if the concept really worked. So one Friday night, we took the car and drove to his flat. It had some damage and was full of wallpaper everywhere. We only had a weekend and a budget of €400 - quite a challenge!
In just 2 days we managed to remove all the psychedelic paper that was weighing down the atmosphere (each one armed with her magic sponge), paint the whole flat, relocate the furniture and decoration to create an attractive setting. On Saturday we were hit by the universal deluge, but thank God, Sunday gave us the sunniest day of the year and we were able to make a good photographic report that would attract attention and stand out from the properties published in the area. Result: sold in 1 month. It seems that the home staging it works!
