Dwell

Dwell: At Home in the Modern World. In its title alone, there are already three words with which we can fully identify. It was only a matter of time before we talked about this reference publication.

Dwell is not like other decoration magazines. Dwell was born with the clear intention of breaking away, of change, of "never again" to the photos of impeccable houses, of catalogue, of houses where people don't live. It was born with the intention of showing the interiors and decoration of houses where people live, where there are crumbs on the marble of the kitchen and half-open magazines in the bathroom.

So when they founded the magazine, they did so with premeditation and malice aforethought, i.e. with a manifesto under their arms: the fruit bowl manifestoThat bowl of green apples in all the pictures in all the other decorating magazines represents everything you want to run away from. Isn't it cool?

At Dwell it is possible to visit the home of an architect or a furniture designer, a house full of beautiful, well-designed objects, and yet they seem like normal people to you. Because good design is an integral part of everyday life, and this has been systematically banished from design and architecture publications.

Until Dwell came along, of course. As Karrie Jacobs noted in the first issue of the magazine, published in October 2000, "if you see a bowl of fruit in any of our photos, that's because the people who live in that house eat fruit".

It has rained 106 issues since then, in which there is information about products, people, ideas, places, various events. If you're a MONAPARTER, this will all sound familiar. Since that first issue Dwell has been faithful to that credo, and that's why it has tons of followers, with a very complete website that is a reference, 25,188 followers in Facebook198,435 in Twitter and 1,149 in YouTube... All of them Monaparters, even if they don't know it yet. And all of us Dwellers, even if you just found out.
