A strange calm reigns in the home of Monica Escuderodirector of the Barcelonés magazineFriday afternoon. The boys have not yet arrived. Jon SabinMonica, her partner, has taken Jarvis, four months old, to pick up Elvis from school. Even before Badcat and Naseta, cat and kitten respectively, approach the door, sensing their arrival, Monica warns us: "they're coming". And they are not alone. They are accompanied by Matilda, Elvis' inseparable friend/girlfriend, and suddenly there is more atmosphere and movement in this central flat in the Gracia neighbourhood than in the street.

Monica is using up her last few days of maternity leave after the birth of Jarvis, although she confesses that she hasn't been able to stop working completely. One, because she is incapable. And two, because her colleagues at Barcelonés are her best friends "and I would die if I didn't see them often".

He also recognises that a little dose of reality goes a long way when you have a baby, which is why Jarvis has already attended a few meetings.

Monica studied fashion design but considers herself too lazy to wait for a result that takes so long.

That's why he likes the immediacy of the journalismShe began her career with the magazine A Barna and continued working as a freelancer for publications such as Metrópolis, Marie Claire and Yo Dona.

Until three years ago, when Elvis was one, the Barcelonés project came knocking on his door, a magazine that portrays the current affairs of the city and which has its twin sister at Madriz.

From the beginning they gave him carte blanche, both to choose collaborators and content, and it was then that they decided that Jon, a graphic designer by profession, would work from home.

Jon tells us that he, who is a vegetarian, had to go back to buying and cooking meat and fish, although this has not been a problem for him as he has a good sense of smell. They show their respect for animals by taking animals into their home and then giving them up for adoption, even if some of them stay forever...

As we talk, Elvis and Matida are making us play dough ice cream and Jarvis is quietly suckling. Two unusual names that were chosen precisely for that reason. With Elvis the choice was simple, even if they have to hear the question "Is it Elvis Presley or Costello?" And it's not because of either, they simply liked the strength and character of the name itself.

As for Jarvis, things were getting complicated and Monica thought of asking him on her Facebook wall. Finally, it was Matilda's mother who suggested Jarvis as the perfect match for Elvis. Moreover, he was the one chosen, among others, by his older brother.

Monica amusingly tells us that while she was pregnant she met Jarvis Cocker backstage at Razzmatazz and told him that her baby was going to be called after him, to which the artist replied: "It's a big responsibility!

We didn't get many because we were the first of our friends to have children, if anything my mother told me to take it easy.

Moment you particularly remember...

The first morning we spent at home after Jarvis was born. I (Monica) had managed to sleep and was very relaxed, suddenly we were all in bed, cats included, and Elvis asked to hold his brother. It was the first moment we realised we were a family. Very nice.

On a Sunday morning...

Having breakfast at home with the family in peace and quiet, spending the whole morning in pyjamas, me, because Jon doesn't know the concept of "pyjamas", he doesn't like it. Drawing pictures, reading books...
