Children's houses
Children have finally conquered their own space and ours. Their own time and ours. Their own dynamics and ours. We are no longer talking about a parents' zone versus a children's zone, but a single zone for everyone. There are those who have taken this theory to the extreme by creating spectacular children's houses.
Most of us grew up in an adult world. The one in which only westerns and cartoons, with marvellous exceptions like Mazinger o Vicky the Vikingwere reserved for imported series like Heidi or Marco. A strictly blue universe for them, and pink for them, in which the children's decoration was in its infancy compared to the revolution we are living through today. The same was true of houses, where the presence of children was only noticeable because of the greater or lesser disorder, not because there were drawings hanging on the walls, or coloured vinyls, or children's furniture of any kind... Look at the house of Tell me about it or in those of Blue Summerand you will see what we are talking about.
But the years have passed, and the children have finally conquered their own space. And ours. Their own time. And ours. Their own dynamics. And ours... Some might say too much, but the truth is that we should not speak of a "parents' zone" versus a "children's zone", but of a single zone for everyone. Children bring joy to our lives and everything is infinitely more fun with them, isn't it? There are those who have taken this theory to an extreme, generating true species of spaces. Here are some examples.

Why is this? slides o swings only reserved for gardens or parks when you can have them at the foot of the bed? That's what they thought at The Rainbow House in London.
In the same city we find the house of the architect Alex Michaeliswhere, in addition to the slide, there is a climbing wall.
Also a mind-blowing penthouse in New York's East Village, designed by Turett Architectsor a spectacular concrete slide in a house in Jakarta designed by the architects Abodayand which connects the children's room with the kitchen, so that they no longer have to make excuses if they are late for the table...
Special mention should be made of the peterpanes' paradise of Level Architects in Tokyo, where in addition to a slide that surrounds the entire perimeter of the house, there are several play areas where you can goof around without fear of hitting or breaking anything.
There are solutions that are not so drastic because they are not structural, such as the use of bright and cheerful colours in the decoration, vinyls on the walls, so fashionable lately, the use of blackboards so that they can give free rein to their creativity, cables or ropes that allow them to exhibit their creations, small doors with handles within their reach (see the ones on Minjjoo), furniture to scale and without dangerous edges...
Let's give childhood the space it deserves, don't you think? Hold your breath, make a wish, count to three... For a world of pure imagination.
