A dream house in Alicante
Dreams sometimes come true but they are not easy to achieve as it takes time, effort and perseverance.
"Home + renovation + decoration = My dream come true".
With French and Spanish roots, Valérie has always lived in Paris, but ten years ago she moved with her family to Brussels because "life is quieter there", she says. She spent 20 years in the world of music and at the end of her career she decided to take a turn and study interior design.
She and her husband decided to buy a second home in Spain because, living in Brussels, he was missing his Spanish half and, laughing, she confesses that "the older you get, the more sun you need" and in Brussels "it is conspicuous by its absence...". They decided on Alicante because his father was Valencian and, as there is a direct flight from Alicante to Brussels, it only takes two and a half hours to get here. They also love the food in Alicante, the Central Market, the sun and the sea.
They had a very clear list of must-haves for their new home: high ceilings, terrace, in the old town or Central Market area and, if possible, with sea views. After a year of searching and 70 fruitless visits, they were about to throw in the towel... but suddenly something came along that changed everything:
Duplex penthouse with terrace in Poeta Campos Vasallos
He quickly spoke to our colleague Victor, got a plane ticket for the next day and visited the house as he didn't want to lose it. During the visit he thought that the house had a lot of work to do to adapt it to his idea but he saw the potential in it. It was so clear to her that she bought it without the rest of her family seeing it, a brave girl!
"It was a very stressful time... but thanks to Monapart Alicante the transaction went smoothly".
After solving the first part of the equation, she started with the second part: she was very clear about the decoration, she wanted something very simple where white would predominate to enhance the brightness of the house, a couple of works of art by her husband. Yann GuittonThe furniture is industrial furniture and a vintage style wicker terrace set that he bought in Elche.
The refurbishment was carried out with the help of the technical architect and construction manager Javier Pérez NavíoThey did all the insulation of the house (walls and roof), changed all the exterior carpentry and included a skylight in the roof, changed all the electrical installation, installed air conditioning throughout the house and did a complete renovation in bathrooms and kitchen. Three months later and with a total budget of 70.000€ they managed to make their dream come true. Below you can see the before and after photos of the renovation:

Their favourite part of their home is the terrace, where they spend most of their time. For them, as Valérie says, "it's like living in heaven".
"We don't have a sea view, but looking at the rooftops is like looking at a painting by Georges Braque".
