An old flat in Sagrada Familia converted into a designer flat
Buying a flat to renovate is a great option for those in creative professions, as it offers the opportunity to create a home from scratch.
Faced with a blank canvas that is fully customisable and to your liking, adapted to your needs and at a much more affordable price than a new build or second-hand home.
Buying a flat for renovation is a great option for those in creative professions.
When Xavier (architect and builder) and Elodie visited with us this mezzanine to renovate in Sagrada Familia, it was clear. They loved the neighbourhood, the flat had lots of light, a wonderful terrace and it had all the features they had been looking for for so many months. It was a real love at first sight.

With a renovation proposal from Monapart, Xavier and Elodie have carried out a complete renovation of this old flat built in the seventies and have turned it into a beautiful designer flat.

The layout is undoubtedly one of the protagonists. By eliminating all the partition walls in the flat and joining the entrance, kitchen, dining room and living room, we have managed to create a very large open-plan space that is much better suited to today's way of life.

A built-in parquet cupboard from the entrance to the dining room gives a very modern character to the flat and functions both as a storage area for kitchen utensils, dining room and electrical appliances and as a distributor between the day and night areas.

The entrance area, consisting of the hall and the kitchen, is articulated by a large wooden unit lined with polyurethane varnish which, on the one hand, functions as a shelf and, on the other, offers plenty of storage space and contains the oven, hob and sink.

To intensify the spaciousness of the room, the kitchen extractor hood has been integrated into the ceiling. The dining room is the most vintage and breaks with the Nordic aesthetic that predominates in the flat. The table and chairs that Elodie inherited from her French great-grandparents match perfectly with the lamp that Xavier rescued from one of his works.

The living room, which opens onto the terrace through two large windows, is enclosed by a beautiful plasterboard bookcase that stores personal belongings, decorative objects and the television.

The master bedroom opens onto the living room - although it remains hidden behind the bookshelf - and this provides a very practical office area that is perfectly integrated into the whole.

The bedroom also has built-in wardrobes and its neutral tones make it spacious and bright. The funniest touch in the space is the bedside table made from decorative magazines.

Xavier confesses that the bathroom is his favourite place because it is where he has been able to give free rein to his creativity and give shape to the best ideas that he applies every day in the renovation projects that he manages in his construction company. Eeat.

For the bathroom floor, microcement has been used, a waterproof material that provides a texture similar to old stucco. Elements such as the mirror with anti-fogging resistances or the precious ceramic sink add character to the room.

For Elodie, her favourite space is the beautiful teak terrace, where she spends hours and hours eating, reading, relaxing...

The old clothesline has been transformed into a nice leisure area where you can enjoy meetings with friends, dinners and lunches.

Wicker baskets, glass vases, small ceramic birds, old gardening tools, flowers and plants give the terrace a very Mediterranean feel.

The former utility room has now been converted into a guest room with enough space for two beds and a large built-in wardrobe.

We asked Xavier and Elodie what advice they would give to anyone thinking of buying a property for renovation: "...just as we trusted Monapart to buy this house, the best thing you can do when you decide to renovate a flat is to trust an expert to help you through the whole process".. And for example this project, a complete home renovation that illustrates a neat way of working with special attention to detail.
