Since the sixties and seventies, alternative forms of dwelling suited to increasingly complex and sophisticated lifestyles have proliferated in cities. Lofts, studios, live-work spaces and other hybrid formulations are examples of a non-conformist attitude that results in personalisation, the tuning of pre-existing spaces, residential or otherwise, obsolete or not, with or without prior heritage value.
These are “secret” actions, often invisible from the outside, which also remind us that the most ecological home is the one already built that is given a second lease of life through transformation, refurbishment and recycling.
Monapart proposes a route through these bold and unique spaces of Barcelona postmodernity in the itinerary HOMES FOR OPEN MINDS, as part of the second edition of the festival 48h Open House Barcelona which will take place on the coming 22nd and 23rd of October. A major civic and cultural event that will open around 150 buildings of every imaginable type, shape and size in the Catalan capital, aimed at all audiences and free of charge. An initiative by the non-profit association Reversible Architecture.
