Xavier Cugat, born in Girona, was born on the first day of the 20th century, proving that he was a man of principles. When he was still a child, his family left for Cuba to start a new life, and when he was a teenager they emigrated again to start over in New York, where he made it big in music. One of his biggest hits was a cover of Cole Porter's song "Begine the Beguine", inspired by Caribbean rhythms and translated into Spanish as "Volver a empezar".
