Every story has a beginning and an end. The beginning of the story of the Tempo Expiatori de la Sagrada Família is the only thing that is clear to date: 19 March 1882. The end remains to be seen, although the website is optimistic that it will take place sometime in the first third of the 21st century. It's a bit of a stretch, considering the speed at which the Chinese have been building buildings lately... A 57-storey skyscraper in 19 days! Perhaps it is because of the two temples, the religious one is expiatory, i.e. it has always been built from donations. In this sense, Gaudí himself said: "The Expiatory Temple of the Sagrada Família is made by the people and this is reflected in it. It is a work that is in the hands of God and in the will of the people". Perhaps this also explains the delay...
