I had had a transformative experience in the adjoining dwelling. I found the owner to be a polite and friendly man, with a voice of excellent timbre and a somewhat low tone for these latitudes, who one senses has a card up his sleeve only to discover that this is in fact the Queen of Hearts, and that she is in the nude. He recommended our services to his neighbour, an Italian woman somewhere between beautiful and very beautiful (depending on how long you look at her and from what angle you look at her) with an incredibly precise definition of the line (which does not exist as such) that draws the lips against the skin.
In thinking about this story I have begun to consider the possibility that everyone in this building is a person of particular elegance and handsomeness. All speaking in a soothing, hypnotic tone of voice, moving between floors with the elastic delicacy of Siamese cats.
