The door will open when it senses the proximity of the inhabitants of the house, the appliances will be activated remotely just by thinking about it, and the Roomba will give you a telepathic therapy session while it scrubs your bathroom. But you'll also occasionally lose mental synchronisation with the washing machine, or get a Trojan horse in your brain and have to go to the social security IT guy for a system reboot. Then you will nostalgically remember the houses of yesteryear, when lights were turned on with switches and doors were opened with a key. For now, let's leave domestic dystopias for fiction and enjoy our analogue homes while we can.
