Do we live as we think? - Housing debate in Madrid #SPKSYMonapart<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

After two editions in Barcelona, Speakeasy arrives in Madrid on 25 October, where four speakers will reflect on the correlation between the housing we choose and our lifestyle.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Next Thursday 25 October will take place in the interior design studio Ynot<\/a><\/strong> the third edition of \"Speakeasy: risky conversations about housing\" organised by Monapart Madrid<\/a><\/strong> after the first two editions in Barcelona. The debate will focus on the correlation between the housing we choose and our lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do we inhabit as we think? Is there a modern way of inhabiting? Is \"home\" a fundamentally traditional concept? Why is new construction for many a consolation and not a longing? Why are highly sophisticated consumers less so when it comes to housing? Does new construction propose or respond to demand? Is reading AD magazine and furnishing Ikea like reading Vogue magazine and dressing in Zara? Do we consume like our friends and inhabit like our parents? Is modern housing high culture? What's the reason for the rise of the house-with-charm? What awaits the home when it is associated with \"moments\", \"experiences\" or \"Instagram\"? What is it about modern furniture and technology that combine so well with mouldings? Why is it normal to park a Tesla in a house with \"F\" energy certification? Why is it normal to eat with eco products of proximity and in recyclable packaging in a house with synthetic PVC parquet? From what time is the home \"of today\"?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The debate, moderated by Jos\u00e9 Luis Echeverr\u00eda<\/strong><\/a> (founding partner of Monapart<\/strong>), will be attended by Atxu Amann<\/strong><\/a> (architectural firm Extreme Temperatures<\/strong>); Julio Touza S.<\/strong><\/a>(son of Julio Touza Rodr\u00edguez, of the firm Touza Architects<\/strong>); Juan Fraile<\/strong> (promoting partner of The Paratrooper <\/strong>and founder of Engine Market<\/strong>); y Carlos Primo<\/strong><\/a> (magazine ICON Design<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. in Architecture from the Escuela T\u00e9cnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid and partner in the architectural studio Extreme Temperatures<\/a>. In both areas she has received recognition for the innovative nature of her work. The New York Times considers her one of the professionals who have made a mark on interior design, architecture and lifestyle in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018 she was appointed curator of the Spanish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Touza Architects<\/a> is one of Spain's leading architectural practices. With more than 40 years of experience, it has generated more than 2,000 projects, most recently luxury projects in the centre of Madrid: Espa\u00f1oleto 19, Infanta Isabel 21, Tirso de Molina 8... <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He conceives architecture as a service to society, with the ultimate aim of providing wellbeing for people without renouncing beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CARLOS PRIMO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

PhD in Journalism and professor of Sociology and History of Fashion at the IED. He has worked on various projects related to literature, design and contemporary art and has collaborated in media such as Letras Libres, View of the Times and Koult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is currently Editorial Coordinator of Icon Design<\/a>a leading magazine specialising in architecture and design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After two editions in Barcelona (Old new construction<\/a> y Uses and consumption<\/a>) and this first one in Madrid, Speakeasy was born from the idea of bringing together important actors in the housing and related sectors (architects, designers, developers, builders, academics and representatives of the public sector) to discuss current issues such as new co-living solutions, new approaches to new construction, trends in the housing sector, etc. through an innovative and encouraging format of debate. The Speakeasy concept stems from the small underground clubs that opened during Prohibition in the United States. A small door, a password and bottles of rum encouraged attendees to reinvent the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A summary of what the second edition had to offer, which included the presence of Marta Rocamora<\/a> (Community Director WeWork Spain); Guillermo L\u00f3pez <\/a>(MAIO Architects); Sergio Vinay<\/a> (Director of Institutional Relations at Airbnb); Iker Marcaide<\/a> (Promoter of the first eco-neighbourhood in Spain, Valencia); and Sergio Nasarre<\/a> (Director of the UNESCO Housing Chair at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
