A sunless patio or a north facing between buildings?<\/a> It is probably the most difficult challenge... But even if it seems impossible, we can have a varied plantation by combining vegetable and aromatic plants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

We can sowing strawberries<\/strong>, typical undergrowth fruits<\/strong> (therefore shade-loving), which will bear fruit from the end of winter to the beginning of summer. They should be planted at the end of winter, and as they are perennials, it is only necessary to renew the plant in a few years, when it bears less fruit or is damaged by lack of water in summer.<\/p>\n\n\n

The raspberries<\/strong> They can also do well in the shade, if they have a good pot, as they need more soil. It is a perennial and can be found in spring in nurseries, although in the first year it bears little fruit (in summer). As they are of Nordic origin, they need shade, as they would fry in the Mediterranean sun!<\/p>\n\n\n

In terms of vegetables<\/strong> we have quite a few species. Most of them are winter crops, which as such need less light intensity. Lettuce, red cabbage, lamb's lettuce, lamb's lettuce, lamb's lettuce and spinach<\/strong> can grow in bright sunlight and without sunshine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will not be as lush as with some sun, but just as tasty and healthy. They can be planted at any time of the year (if you buy the seedlings already germinated); seeds are best in early spring.<\/p>\n\n\n

As climbing plants, to cover walls or fences we can plant broad beans or runner beans, from seed<\/strong>. Broad beans are sown in autumn, as they do not like the heat, and the harvest is harvested between May and August. Beans are planted in spring, after the frosts, and we will have flowers and fruit all summer.<\/p>\n\n\n

Other very interesting species, with a minimum of sunshine, are the onions, leeks, spinach and radishes<\/strong>We can plant them in spring or autumn. When they reach a good size, they are simply harvested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some aromatic plants<\/strong> very useful also grow without direct sun: chives and mint<\/strong> do not need the sun if they are bright, and the basil<\/strong> We can also be good at it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They can be planted almost any time of the year. As you can see, you can have vegetables, greens, aromatic<\/strong> and even fruit! The whole supermarket (or almost). A little secret is to buy seedlings instead of sowing seeds, as the plants will be much more productive and disease-free.<\/p>\n\n\n
