Churches converted into homes<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

There are all sorts of people in this world. But not everyone has vineyards like these, mind-blowing churches converted into fabulous homes.<\/h2>\n\n\n

In Australia we find a church-house converted into a loft<\/strong><\/a> which takes your breath away and, what's more, is anything but a \u00abhouse for everyone\u00bb. A single space contains the living room, the dining room and the kitchen, completely exposed and dominating the room like an altar, although I hope that something more than wine and unleavened bread is offered on it... Mind you, the purple walls are reminiscent of a bishop's cassock. A nice touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is in London a converted temple home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Light enters at will through the huge wooden windows, framed by the pointed arches that lead out to the terrace. In this home we have buttoned armchairs, ginger jars, a grand piano, vintage objects scattered here and there, all of which were once sacred to someone. The kitchen is separated from the living room by a superb table where another Last Supper could well be held, even if the setting is not \u201cquite\u201d the same. I'll sign up if my last supper is in a place like this...<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in the UK, in Kyloe, there is a converted Georgian church home<\/strong> <\/a>that is anything but sweet...<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next to the house there is a graveyard, grrr, the main bedroom is on the altar (something not even the worst porn films have), and the spaces are so open there is nowhere to hide one's sins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A stark white dresses a church-house in Utrecht<\/strong> refurbished by the Dutch studio Zecc Architecten<\/a><\/strong>, broken only by the colour burst of the stained glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The perfect balance between one and the other is reflected in the interior, which, upon receiving indirect and semi-zenithal light, produces an almost mystical effect. Enrique Iglesias would call it a thoroughly religious experience.<\/p>\n\n\n
