Her passion for photography, which started as a personal project, has eventually led her to work for brands such as Offset Collage, Bryan Stepwise, Eastpark... and now that you know a little more... shall we grab an umbrella and delve deeper into the beauty of the storm?

1. Tell us about yourself and your work. Where did your vocation begin? Any first memories?

My name is Bea, although many people know me better as Beatriz Tormenta. I've been working as a photographer since 2015, creating content for social networks and websites for brands of all kinds, although I'm actually a sociologist by training. It all started when I was 17, and it was really thanks to an OCD - that of seeing everything in order and chromatically harmonious - that led me to pick up a camera and immortalise everything non-stop, rather than as a vocation in itself. The visual order, the harmony of colours and the beauty of natural light led me, after many years, to become a photographer and make a living from it.

2. What do you find most satisfying about your work, and any that you are particularly proud of?

What satisfies me most about my work is that it is so varied, so stimulating and that it always ends up taking me to new creative places I hadn't explored before. Living from your creativity is hard, let's not fool ourselves, and for me it's a bit like surfing a constant wave in which you live with super lucid moments, creative crises and moments in which nothing happens. But you always get something good and positive out of it. I always feel that I learn something I didn't know every time I face a new job or a new client and it's very satisfying to see that everything you've picked up has been sown by you.

3. What is your creative process like? What are your sources of inspiration? Any particular music while working?

My creative process is quite variable in general depending on the project and on my moment in life and, although I am methodical at the moment of execution and follow certain steps, I also let myself flow depending on what evokes what I have to photograph. I am very inspired by cinema and the work of other artists, but what helps me most to stimulate my creativity is travelling.

4. Favourite colour, book, film and record - in that order! 😉

Colour: Pastel pink. Always.

Last book that I liked very much (I can't choose just one favourite): Old Voice by Elvira Victoria

Favourite album of late: Being funny in a foreing language by The 1975

5. Is your home a reflection of who you are? Tell us what it smells like, your favourite corner, your favourite decorative object or piece of furniture, if you treasure a collection... And if you have a pet, introduce it to us!

What most people who come to my house tell me is: It's very you. So I guess it is: I feel very much reflected in it and I think it says a lot about who I am 🙂

My favourite corner I would say is my living room, with my paintings, my plants and my favourite things. I'm lucky enough to have a glass wall and I like to sit on the sofa and enjoy the view of my little kingdom while I work, read or watch a movie.

Among my favourite decorative objects is a leopard mask from Ecuador that was given to me as a gift and my paintings by Juan Feo, Clara Cebrían and Alejandra Marroquín.
