Jordi Mestre is responsible (along with his great team at Nomad Coffee) for ensuring that we all manage to function in the mornings thanks to their delicious roasted coffees. But not only that, but year after year they have been innovating and growing, until they created Frutas Selectas, to which, in addition to speciality coffee, they added bread, cuisine, local fruit and vegetables. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tell us about yourself and your work. Where did your vocation start? Any first memories?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to work in furniture and I studied furniture design and furniture restoration and conservation, (the latter in London) where I discovered the speciality caf\u00e9 scene that had taken off in the city. There I frequented some caf\u00e9s and when I finished university and after some internships in different restoration workshops I decided to look for a job in the caf\u00e9s that gave me a good vibe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My first powerful memory with specialty coffee is of a rainy day. I escaped to try a coffee before going to work and the barista made me a coffee that made me rethink everything. That coffee was unlike anything I had ever had before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you find most satisfying about your work, and any that you are particularly proud of?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The team that makes up NOMAD, how professional and passionate they are about what they do. How good they are at their job and what good colleagues they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your creative process like, what are your sources of inspiration, any particular music while working?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

I am fortunate to be surrounded by a very creative environment of designers and people with very interesting gastronomic projects, so I tend to get a lot of help in these matters, especially from my partner and Basora, who is in charge of the creative direction of NOMAD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
