While I write these lines, I am in a cafe decorated in shades of white, light gray and natural wood, with tables and Aaltesque stools, discreetly asymmetric dishes and music by José González. Actually, this is what has been known as "Nordic Style" (yes, José González is as Swedish as the Lack table). I must admit that I like the place, but during my period of study in Finland I never saw a local as Nordic as this. It may not be necessary to dive in Scandinavian design manuals to bring real Nordic style to our Mediterranean shore: having a kitchen made with the hands of an Icelandic carpenter and a map of Reykjavik on the wall can be enough.
