One sees some tourists seared by the sun of May while other tourists (the learned ones) visit the Palau Moxó; students in short trousers; an Argentinean waitress from the Bliss; a small vehicle of the city cleaning services (lime green on black) and its all tattled operator (blue-green on dark-skin) ... One can never get bored in the Gòtic. Neither the pigeons, that fly in erratic spirals under the water that irrigates the square. The light bounces off the shiny pavement and lifts up a smell of wet dust, cheap summery perfume, a medieval market, and sometimes the pee smell.
And as you get home, you will go out into the balcony ‘cause you cannot help it but need to reach out to touch the walls of the beautiful Basilica dels Sants Màrtirs i Just Pastor. Just a stone throw away... You almost can, almost! Maybe another day… But you fool, don’t be naïve. The arms do not grow past the 20 and basilicas do not move. Anyway, for you this is such a daily routine and tomorrow will be another day of walking around the Gòtic, a neighborhood where it is impossible to get bored.
